10 Ways To Level Up Your Social Media Marketing

Social media has become an indispensable tool for businesses of all sizes. But simply having a presence isn't enough. To truly succeed, you need a well-defined strategy that drives engagement, builds brand awareness, and ultimately, converts followers into customers!


Here are 10 actionable tips to help you level up your social media marketing game:


1. Define Your Target Audience:

  • Who are you trying to reach? Age, interests, location, online behaviour – the more specific, the better. Having clear a clear ideal target audience really helps you get into the shoes of your ideal customer.

  • Create buyer personas: By understanding your ideal customer you can develop detailed profiles for them. This will guide your content creation and targeting efforts in a more detailed and effective way!

2. Choose the Right Platforms:

  • Don't spread yourself too thin. Focus your efforts on the platforms where your target audience spends the most time.

  • Consider your brand's personality. Does it fit the tone and style of each platform? The most common platforms you see brands using are TikTok, Instagram and FaceBook. Other platforms like Pinterest and upcoming new age apps can be beneficial too.

3. Create High-Quality Content:

  • Visuals are key: Use high-resolution images and engaging videos.

  • Share valuable content: Offer insights into your brand, how your products are used, created, the faces behind your brand etc. Keeping it real and personal, on a level that your customers can understand! They might not want to see the technical side of business, but they will understand the feelings you ignite when you post content about using your products. It connects them to want to engage in the content and most likely buy from you.

  • Tell your brand's story: Share behind-the-scenes glimpses and connect with your audience on a human level. Story telling is fantastic emotional leverage in marketing, I will always say story telling is one of the best mindsets to adapt with marketing because as humans our emotions run the majority of our actions. We feel self-conscious, we invest in aesthetics or health. We feel like we have worked hard, we want to treat ourselves. Every action starts with a feeling, and good marketers will understand your brands customers enough to know how to encourage this 'feeling' within them so they invest in your brand and become a loyal consumer/advocate.

4. Run Contests and Giveaways:

  • Boost engagement: Encourage participation and generate excitement around your brand. A competition is a great way to gain more engagement and brand awareness.

  • Grow your audience: Offer enticing prizes to attract new followers.

5. Utilising word of mouth marketing:

  • Reach a wider audience: When customers love their order from your brand, they will tell people. Word of mouth is one of the best natural and free ways to advertise your brand, and it can easily



    be used on social media too. Hashtag campaigns on Instagram work a treat, as well as UGC (user generated content) being published on your social medias work very well as content and encouraging customers to post online about their positive experience with your brand. Especially when it comes to platforms such as TikTok which has taken the world by storm, products and brands go viral daily with TikTok. I am sure you have heard someone say 'oh, it went viral on TikTok so I wanted to try it' at some point when referencing to a product someone has just bought.

6. Monitor and Analyse Your Results:

  • Track key metrics: Monitor engagement (likes, comments, shares), reach, and website traffic. This tells you what your customers liked, what they didn't engage with and what to do for future content and social media strategies, as marketers we are trained in analysing platform metrics to help your brand move forward effectively!

  • Use analytics tools: Tools like Google Analytics and social media platform analytics can provide valuable insights.

7. Engage with Your Audience:

  • Respond to comments and messages promptly: Show that you value your followers' opinions by actually replying to them. It is a mistake I see often from brands, but engaging back with followers is a free and fantastic way to keep a well performing social media account. It's like when you say 'Happy birthday!' to someone on FaceBook and they don't respond... Always engage back!

  • Start conversations: Ask questions, run polls, and encourage discussions. Having a specific CTA (call to action) on your content works amazingly to boost engagement on your platforms.

8. Collaborate with Influencers:

  • Partner with relevant influencers to reach a wider audience and build credibility. These don't have to be influencers with 100K followers, sometimes the micro-influencers create the best UGC related content! And their audiences are fantastic to approach because they like to see real people advertise brands, it means more to see honest opinions of products.

  • Choose influencers who align with your brand values and resonate with your target audience.

9. Stay Up-to-Date with Trends:

  • Keep an eye on the latest social media trends and algorithm changes.

  • Experiment with new features and formats to stay ahead of the curve.

10. Be Patient and Consistent:

  • Building a strong social media presence takes time and effort.

  • Post consistently and maintain a regular posting schedule.

  • Don't get discouraged by slow growth. I believe that slow growth is the best growth when it comes to social media, but being consistent is the biggest lesson in social media marketing. Rome wasn't built in a day.
